Colts’ Success Moves Betting Line Hard in Their Favor

October 29th, 2009 · No Comments

There’s a penalty for being good in the NFL, at least for the bettor there is. Indianapolis’ fast start to the NFL season means that there’s less and less value in their number each week. This week is no different. Since opening at (-11) against a decent San Francisco football team, the Colts have jumped two points to (-13). You have to wonder if the two point move is “smart” money or the public frenzy over Peyton Manning and the Colts being viewed as unstoppable. Whatever the case may be, it makes getting a read on whether or not to pull the trigger and lay the points even harder. One must always be leery of running double digit favorites but when you look at the Colts’ ledger, you can’t find a whole lot of reasons to turn away from them. They are 5-1 ATS and this includes covering double digits twice by at least a touchdown. Last week they were 14 point favorites on the road versus St. Louis and knocked the horn off of their helmets 42-6. What’s a bettor to do? To lay or not to lay.
